The Bitter/Sweet Truth

The Bitter/Sweet Truth

“And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? And he cried unto the Lord ; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet:” Exodus 15:23-25a

Jesus gave it all to us through Calvary. The tree at Marah was a type of the Cross. What Jesus did for us on that Cross completed everything. Everything was accomplished through His one act of Love. So, as you try not to become bitter at how things are not playing out the way you were hoping, remember the One Who died for you so that the root of bitterness which so easily destroys us from within can be made sweet. Trust Jesus, and keep your eyes upon Him, and no bitterness can ever truly take hold. Set it down at the foot of the Cross. For in the Cross is the sweet savor of Christ. He is a well that never runs dry. Come, drink of the sweet Water of everlasting Life.

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14
